iS1650 and iS2450 Twin 1U Rendering Systems
Lightbeam Systems iS1650/iS2450 Twin 1U Render Node Systems
Two complete independent 8-core or 12-core systems (nodes) in a single 1U rack space, 16 cores or 24 cores total per 1U
A truly outstanding choice for rendering and calculation tasks, these nodes condense an extraordinary amount of power in a very small space while keeping the entire enclosure and components well cooled. The redundant variable speed fan monitor senses temprature several thousand times every second and throttles up and down as needed based on rendering and calculation tasks. Designed to run for years at a time, these systems are engineered for quick service and easy parts replacement. This system is built for ease of use, low maintenance and unbelievable processing power.
33% higher core density over blade solutions, and much less expensive
Our twin systems average a 33% higher core count per 1U on average over blade solutions that cost significantly more. Unlike a blade solution, these nodes have significantly better cooling and capacity (with a RAM capacity of 192GB per node).
A much smarter choice than blade solutions
Blade systems rely on shared components that can cripple a production environment in a fraction of a second. Blades are proprietary, run hot, are limited in memory capacity, and can easily result in expensive and complex repairs. Repairs and service is very taxing, bringing down a significantly large amount of rendering resources offline.
Issues with blade systems
- Depend on shared resources that can severely impair production if they fail
- Much more expensive to buy and operate, requires a very large capital outlay for a blade chassis regardless the number of blades initially purchased
- Require expert training to service; complex repairs must be done with expensive proprietary parts
Advantages with Lightbeam iS1650/iS2450 Systems
- Much less expensive to scale, requiring purchasing one twin system at a time
- Significantly larger memory capacity
- Much higher core density
- Efficient and advanced auto adjusting cooling system, extending life of hardware
- Much easier, cheaper and faster to service
- Replace a power supply or hard drive in 15 seconds

iS1650/iS2450 Render Node Testimonials
The relationship between FuseFX and Lightbeam Systems has been outstanding. After we landed a job that involved creating a full CG character, we needed to build out a render farm to support it.
I knew there were many considerations to account for. After having heating and electrical issues with machines from a previous company, I needed a company that would not only provide FuseFX with a better product, but also have the knowledge and expertise required to properly build out our farm. Lightbeam far exceeded our expectations from the start - For example, a major concern I had was the render node power requirements, and accounting for power resources for future expansion. After asking two electricians and various tech experts, no one could give me a clear and concrete answer. I posed this question to Lightbeam's support team and was quickly sent a very detailed email with more than enough information that exactly answered my question and helped us calculate our power requirements with a level of precision no one else had.
Once the Lightbeam render nodes were delivered, they were the easiest systems to set up, and a snap to install into the rack. Not only were the machines pre-installed with the right software, they were pre-configured with our specific network settings and already had a full set of software updates so we could get right to work. The time this saved on setup was critical.
There are many options when buying computer equipment. Lightbeam offers FuseFX the support, knowledge, and a competitive price that every business should offer their customers.
— Jason Fotter, Co-Founder / Visual Effects Supervisor, FuseFX
“Our Lightbeam iS1650 render nodes are extremely powerful compared to any other dual quad system we’ve used. Even brand new machines such as those from DELL or HP are about 15 to 25 % slower on the same frames... Not to mention that for the price of one of their machines, we are able to get 2 nodes from Lightbeam with that increase in power!”.
